Introduction

Welcome to Vedic Astro Bot! This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use our website at https://www.vedicastro.bot and our services.

Data Collection

We may collect the following user data to provide our services,

• Name : We collect your name to personalize your user experience.
• Email : Your email is collected to provide services related to email subscriptions, notifications and to send important service updates.
• Birth Date, Time & Place : We only use this data to calculate your birth chart.

If you choose to sign up with a 3rd Party (e.g. Google Login) we will capture your name, email address and profile picture from that service.

Non-Personal Data Collection

We ask before using optional cookies for analytics. You can change your choice anytime from Cookie Preferences at the bottom of any page.

Essential cookies keep you signed in and, if you use the free answer without an account, link your browser to that answer for up to 7 days. Analytics (PostHog) records page views and how features are used, so we can see what is working. Only if you accept analytics cookies does it store an ID and use your device identifier to recognise return visits. Birth details, questions you type and answers are not sent to analytics.

Free Answer Without an Account

You can ask one question on our AI astrology chat page without creating an account. To answer it we ask for the same details as an account profile: your name, birth date, exact birth time, birthplace and the place you live now. We do not ask for your email.

• Storage: your details, the question you chose and the answer are encrypted before they are stored, and are linked only to a cookie in your browser. We store a one-way hash of that cookie, not the cookie itself.
• Retention: if you do not create an account, your details and the answer are deleted within 7 days.
• If you create an account or log in from the same browser, your details and the answer are moved into that account so the conversation can continue, and the temporary copy is deleted straight away. We keep a small record of that move (no birth details, question or answer) for 30 days so a repeated request leads to the same conversation.
• Analytics: we record which step of this flow was reached, which of the prepared questions was chosen, and what the answer cost us to produce. Your birth details and the answer are never sent to analytics, and this part of the page is excluded from session recording.

Device Identifiers and Abuse Prevention

Free answers and free accounts cost us money to provide, so we limit how often one device or network can claim them. For this we use:

• A device identifier: a code calculated in your browser from technical characteristics such as screen size, fonts and graphics settings. It does not contain your name or email, and different people with identical devices can share the same code. We use it to limit free answers and we record it when an account is created. If you accept analytics cookies, our analytics also uses it to recognise a returning visitor before they sign in. For free answers it is kept for 30 days.
• Your IP address: for free answers we store only a keyed hash of it, for 30 days, to count requests from one network. The address itself is not stored with your details.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: a check that a request comes from a person and not an automated program, shown when you sign up or start a free answer. Cloudflare receives technical information about your browser and your IP address to perform it.

We do not use these identifiers for advertising and we do not sell them. A missing device identifier never blocks you by itself.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Your birth details and all generated insights are encrypted before storage. Neither Supabase nor any third-party system has access to your birth data or chart interpretations in plain text.

AI answers are written by Google's Gemini models. For these we send calculated chart data (planet positions, divisional placements, dasha periods). We do not send your name, birthplace, email address, password or payment details to the AI provider. The chart data is calculated from your birth date and time and can reveal them. See "AI Usage & Data Safety" below.

To operate Vedic Astro Bot, we use the following essential service providers:

• Supabase (Authentication & Database Hosting) — Supabase stores your account email and encrypted application data. Supabase never receives your birth details, chart insights, or any sensitive information in decrypted form.
• Dodo Payments (Payment Processing) — Handles all payment information securely. We do not store or access your card details at any point. Payment details are processed exclusively by Dodo Payments.
• Google (Gemini API, AI answers): receives the content of an AI request as described under "AI Usage & Data Safety".
• Cloudflare (Turnstile): checks that signups and free answers are requested by a person. See "Device Identifiers and Abuse Prevention".
• PostHog (Analytics): receives page views and feature-usage events. It does not receive birth details, questions you type or answers.
• Place search: the place names you type into a birthplace or location field are sent to a geocoding service to find their coordinates and time zone.

These providers act as processors on our behalf. Supabase and Dodo Payments cannot decrypt your birth data.

AI Usage & Data Safety

AI-powered features are answered by Google's Gemini models. Most of what we send is calculated chart data: planetary longitudes, divisional chart placements, dasha periods and transits, together with your question and the earlier messages of the conversation.

Your name and birthplace are never sent to the AI provider. When the AI looks up the profile, they are redacted, and so are your birth date and time. The charts are calculated on our own servers, and the AI receives only the results. Those results are worked out from the moment you were born, so they can reveal your birth date and time: some dasha periods, for example, begin on the day you were born.

When an answer needs personal context, the AI can be given your age, time zone, the place you live now and anything you wrote about yourself in your profile. This applies to the free answer without an account as well. Anything you type into a chat, including details about yourself, is sent as part of the conversation.

We never send your email address, password or payment details to the AI provider.

Encryption & Key Management

All birth details, chart calculations, and generated insights are encrypted before they are written to our databases. Each account is protected with a user-specific key that is stored outside the database layer, so a database breach does not expose readable information. Only our backend services can momentarily decrypt your data to fulfill a request; no team member can view it in plain text. This “privacy by design” architecture keeps your chart history secure and under your control.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 18. Our services are intended for adult users.

Updates to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as needed to reflect changes in our services or to comply with legal requirements. Users will be informed of significant updates via email. Continued use of our services after receiving notice of these changes indicates your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
